Composer Akira Ifukube (1914 - 2006) is highly regarded among "Godzilla" fans throughout the world for his musical contributions to the famous film series. Ifukube was also very well respected as an educator as much as a leading figure in the Japanese classical music scene. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the composer's death and this concert is presented to commemorate the man and his musical legacy.
『ゴジラ』シリーズの作曲家として全米でも幅広いファン層を持つ伊福部昭は、教育者として、そして日本のクラシック音楽界のけん引役として、様々な功績を残しました。今年はその伊福部昭の十年祭（仏教の十三回忌）に当たるため、その奉納演奏会を兼ね、かの作曲家が残した音楽遺産を紹介するための演奏会を開く運びとなりました。
